The area cultivated by the Johann Brenner Hopcenter in Eja near Pfaffenhofen in the Hallertau comprises 54 hectares. We are among the 20 largest hop growers in the world.

Beer consists of water flavored with malted barley to which yeast is added to bring about fermentation. Its soul, however, comes from only one key ingredient: hops.

Hops are a very demanding plant. The knowledge and expertise of the farmers and those who process the hops have a major influence on the quality of the foods and herbal remedies produced from them.

 

For generations, the Hopcenter in the Hallertau under the supervision of Johann Brenner has dedicated itself to the cultivation of this sensitive climbing plant. The development of state-of-the-art technology ensures that the high quality of our hops never wanes. The Hallertau Hopcenter is a family business in its 13th generation. Traditionally, the operation has been mixed, but only recently has the Hopcenter concentrated solely on hop production. In 2008, we added 25 hectares to our operation, where 100,000 new hop plants have been planted. Our recently expanded facility, the most innovative and advanced hop harvest center in the world, opened its doors in 2009.
